Ben Affleck flashes rare smile as he bonds with son, 12, amid Jennifer Lopez divorce rumors

Ben Affleck is continuing to shake off rumors that his marriage with Jennifer Lopez is on the rocks.

The Argo star, 51, was all smiles as he spent time with his 12-year-old son Samuel in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon.

Affleck pulled the young boy's heavy roller backpack as they walked down the sidewalk together.

He was clad in jeans and a blue sweater that he later removed to reveal a tight white T-shirt.

Affleck shares Samuel — as well as 15-year-old Fin and 18-year-old Violet — with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 52. 

Affleck has been living in a $100K-per-month rental mansion in Brentwood located just two blocks away from Garner amid the Lopez split speculation.

Aerial photos obtained by DailyMail.com on Tuesday showed off the 10,000-square-foot mansion that Affleck has been hunkered down in over the past few weeks.

Although the temporary home boasts enough space to house several families comfortably, it's a downgrade for Affleck, who purchased a 38,000-square-foot mansion with his wife J.Lo last year for an eye-popping $60.85 million.

Fans began to suspect that something was amiss with Affleck and Lopez's marriage after they went nearly two months without being photographed together, though the time apart was reportedly due to the singer's busy schedule and Affleck's work filming a sequel to The Accountant.

The two seemed to reunite last week for a school performance that his child Fin was featured in. Though they both displayed grins while arriving at the play, the too looked notably frosty around each other at other times.

Ben has been spotted on recent occasions without his wedding ring, but both wore their rings when they were together over the weekend.

On Monday, a source told PEOPLE that the married couple are at odds when it comes to how much attention they court.

Eyebrows were raised when Lopez wrote about their love in her movie This Is Me... Now, in which he appeared, and she was seen melting down alongside him in the accompanying documentary titled The Greatest Love Story Never Told.

In the documentary Affleck made it clear he did not like his wife sharing his old love letters.

He also addressed their different approached to fame: 'Getting back together, I said, "Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media." Then I sort of realized it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of like, you’re gonna marry a boat captain and you go, "Well, I don’t like the water."'

'They just have very different approaches when it comes to media attention,' PEOPLE's source claimed. 'Ben hates all attention and it makes him very uncomfortable. Jennifer has always had a different approach.'

They added that it was just not 'his way' to reveal so much of his inner life to the public.

Affleck and Lopez married in July 2022 after rekindling their romance in the wake of her split from MLB star Alex Rodriguez in 2021.

The two had previously dated from 2002 to 2004, which included an engagement, though they called off the wedding and went their separate ways at the time.

On Monday, PageSix claimed that Affleck is over the union and ready to divorce Lopez - after less than two years of marriage.

A source told the outfit that the Oscar-winner has 'come to his senses' about his 'fever dream' Lopez marriage.

Apparently Affleck was so caught up in his love for the Atlas actress that he could not think straight. But now his head is clear and he 'knows' he needs to divorce, despite spending quality alone time with Lope in recent days.

'If there was a way to divorce on grounds of temporary insanity, he would,' the source added. 

'He feels like the last two years was just a fever dream, and he's come to his senses now and understands there is just no way this is going to work.'

DailyMail.com has reached out to a rep for Lopez and Affleck, but has not heard back.

PEOPLE had a more optimistic source than Page Six as the outlet also reported Monday that Affleck and Lopez plan to stick it out.

'There have always been clashes in their styles, how they handle issues, and their actions, but nothing has stopped their love over the years. This is a great love story,' they claimed.
